“Masport and Jakaar have worked together successfully over a number of years.

The relationship began in the early 1980's when Masport was looking for a substitute for vulcanised rubber tires on its mower wheels. In an innovative approach using an existing PVC moulding process, Jakaar produced a tyre which initially directly replaced the rubber component.

Ongoing development over a number of years, has resulted in an integrated wheel design using the best advantages of the plastic moulding processes to provide a wheel design with the best possible strength for the purpose at a very economical price. We continue to search the world without success for a better wheel.

More recently with Jakaar's acquisition of a larger computer controlled moulding machine, we have moved the production of our mower grass catcher to Jakaar.

The confidence we had to move this strategic moulding job to Jakaar is in itself testimony to our confidence in Jakaar, not only to produce sound mouldings using the latest available moulding techniques, but in their overall management of supply and quality.

Masport where practicable operates a JIT approach to material sourcing with an emphasis on maintaining minimum finished stock yet responding quickly to customer's demands.

Jakaar are able to provide that service, with daily deliveries ensuring minimum inventory holding while reacting quickly to constantly changing production schedule.

Masport's policy is to assign the responsibility for tooling to the component manufacturer. We work with the supplier on design features to ensure a sound finished component, taking into account the requirements of the moulding process and tooling capabilities.
